I was thinking today about things I've done in the past and want to write them here to get them off my chest. You reading this gives you the entrance to my very soul of why I always feel guilty about everything.... well hell I'm catholic isn't that how I'm supposed to feel. Damn, now I feel guilty for saying Hell. Damn I said damn... I better stop. This is my confession, judge me as you will ----
I was obsessed with my moms makeup. I would sit in the bathroom in the mornings and just watch her put it on, waiting for the day she would say I could join her. What I remember being the most interested in wasnt the lipstick or the pretty shades of eye shadow, it was the skin colored cover up that you put under your eyes. Mom told me it was to make her look younger and not as tired. That sounded amazing to me. The fountain of youth in one small lipstick sized bottle. I had found my calling! One morning after mom was done I snuck in and stole that nearly brand new bottle of coverup. There was a boy I liked and wanted to impress with how youthful and pretty I was. I took the coverup , opened the lid of my desk and by the concealment of my desk and the lack of a mirror piled the concealor under my eyes until it was gone. I shut my desk and smiled at the boy (I remember his name was brett) next to me. A look of horror covered his face. "What Happened to your eyes!" His hand shot into the air " Mrs Lyons! Mrs Lyons! Elizabeth is sick!!!" It was hard to explain what exactly I had done and after a trip to the bathroom, many many pieces of toilet paper later, and a somewhat crushed ego I was ready for my next day of third grade... No wonder why you are the way you are, did you have to go to therapy to uncover this?!! :) The guilty feeling is beaten into all catholics probably starting in the womb... or atleast as soon as you come out!
