Are you going to eat that?

I went to a "Christmas party" last night for Ryan's work. It was at one of those restaurants where they give you a chunk of meat and some accessories and say now go fix it yourself. Seriously? Fareway spend $1200 on our food, couldn't they find a place that would cook it for us? As many of you know I am NOT a people person and spent most of the night trying to stay out of peoples way and keep my personal bubble intact. Did this happen? Nope, not at all. Everyone was crowded around this grill while the other half of the party stood and watched and waited for their turn. The grill was not hot enough at all so it took forever and cooked very unevenly. Ryan is obsessed with bread and was ecstatic that there were literally bags and bags of wonderbread Texas toast that you could dip in pre-melted mystery butter and cook on the grill. He became amazingly good at this. He took the bread and lathered it in "butter" Turned the bread over on the grill and then thickly coated the other side. Then a flame would jump up the bread would catch on fire and end up black crusty and in a new found home called the garbage can. We each had a 16 oz ribeye steak. I am a red meat person and like my steak fairly rare but this was on the verge of being bloody but I didn't want to go back to the hoards of people around the little grill so I just doused it in steak sauce and chewed like a cow chewing its cud... sorry that is a bad analogy considering I was eating a cow. Personally I wouldn't go back, I can cook meat at home without the invasion of personal space and listening to everyone look at everyone Else's steak's rarity and comment on how disgusting it was if some people had their's pink or red in the middle. On the upside I made friends with a very cute baby, on the downside I got to listen to everyone comment on how "natural" I looked and asking me and Ryan when we were going to have one. Every excuse we had for waiting was instantly shot down and I left feeling like I was barren and on the verge of menopause. Overall a great night...

The Grinch said...

Sounds like you had more fun than you wanted... I would have poked someone in the eye for you, and Lilly could have peed on them!
